Earle Ervin Simmons

Earle graduated from Medical Lake High School in 1949 and then went on to Eastern Washington College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1953. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Sr. Chief with 30 years of service.

During his military career, Earle and his family made their home all over the world including Japan, Guam, and Germany. No matter where they were stationed, they always considered Oak Harbor, Washington their home town, where they lived for the better part of their married life.

Earle loved spending time with his family. They had many adventures driving across the country to Oklahoma, where they traveled to visit family. At home, he loved playing card games, reading, listening to music, woodworking, and gardening. Fishing and camping were beloved pastimes, as were making his famous zucchini bread and beef jerky. He kept family and friends entertained with his wacky and comical sense of humor.

Earle will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Rena and his children, Deanna (Stephen) Hall, Doug (Cyndi), Kathy (Steve) Weir, and Stacey (Pete) Michel. Earle will also be affectionately remembered by his 7 grandchildren, Ben, Jeremy, Sean, Joshua, Daniel, Stephen, and Ashley, by his 9 great grandchildren, his sister Fran (Don) Heng and his sister in law, Marlene Spanjer. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jackie and Robert and his granddaughter, Desirée. Earle will also be forever remembered by his extended family and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held on November 28, 2017 at Evergreen Funeral Home in Everett, Washington. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. with the service following at 10 a.m. At 2 p.m. there will be a graveside service with full military honors at Tahoma National Cemetery.
