

George Edward Barnett of Monroe, Washington passed away on May 19, 2016, at his home.
He was born March 1, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in Berthold, North Dakota. He served in the army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota, studying auto and truck repair. He worked as a mechanic in North Dakota and continued after moving to Monroe, Washington in 1966. In 1982 he opened and operated his own shop called G & M Auto and Truck Repair located in Everett, Washington. He retired in 1995.
He married Merlaine Anderson in 1954 and they had four daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Merlaine; daughters, Cathie Segle, Brenda Bruner, Kimberly Martinez (Barry), and LeAnn Ogle (Jim); grandchildren, Robb Bruner, Rachel Mauden (Mike), Kristina Geyer, Trisha Johnson, Kara Segle, Triston Osborne (Caitlin), and Nicholas Ogle, and eight great grandchildren; brothers Raymond Barnett, Donald Barnett and Gary Barnett (Dayle); sisters, Dorothy Allshouse (Maurice) and Joyce Neether.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mose and Mildred Barnett; brothers, Edwin Barnett and Dale Barnett and sister, Elaine Haider.
He will be laid to rest at Cypress Lawn Cemetery on June 3, 2016. Memorial service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Monroe on Saturday, June 4 at 2:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or Little Doves Preschool.
