Our beloved angel, Gregory Masten, gained his angel wings on December 22, 2016. He was surrounded by love and light at his home in Mount Vernon at the time of his passing. Born November 16, 1991, Gregory’s life was a journey of courage and resiliency. Shortly after birth, he was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition that was later identified as Zellweger Syndrome. Although he had many challenges, Gregory lived a life full of love, happiness, and accomplishments. He brought so much joy to our lives and taught us all about unconditional love and goodness.
Gregory graduated from Lake Stevens High School with his sister, Kacie, in 2013. He worked for a short time at Any Time Fitness in Lake Stevens prior to moving to Mount Vernon. He loved being with family and friends, especially when we were all together at our neighbor’s house watching the Seahawks and cheering them on! He also loved to swim and could hold his breath under water long enough to make any lifeguard nervous!
Gregory is survived by his mom and step-dad, Carrie and Lance Morehouse; his dad and step-mom, Greg and Candy Masten; his sisters, Kacie, Brittany, and Jordyn; his brother, Beau (Angie); Grandparents, Tom McGrath (Judy), George and Lois Masten, Kathleen Cunningham, Diane Cunningham, and Rex Morehouse; Aunts and Uncles, Liz and Angelo Guerrero, Kris and Al Parce, Gary Masten and Crystal Hackworth, Audry and Perry Moede, and , Jason Cunningham, and Mary Cunningham; cousins Krystal, Nik, Ben, Kendall, Jesse, Lindy, and Dimitri; and nephew and niece, Oakley, and Journey. In addition to immediate family, Gregory is survived by loving friends, teachers, and caregivers. He was preceded in death by his maternal Grandmother Lynn McGrath, Grandmother Lesley Morehouse, Grandfather Ron Cunningham, and Brother Lance Jr.
A CELEBRATION of life is scheduled for Thursday, January 5, 2017 beginning at 3:00 at Rosehill Community Center (304 Lincoln Avenue, Mukilteo) with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Soundview Association (PO Box 151, Stanwood, Washington 98282) where Gregory lived the past few years and was lovingly cared for by his Soundview family.
