

Helen Gwendean Beeston-Denison passed away on September 25, 2014 in Everett, Wash. She was born on May 15, 1925 in Sapulpa, Okla. to Henry and Pernie Bell (Deweese) Brannon, the second of three children. She moved with her family to Washington in 1931 where she lived her entire life. Helen graduated from Everett High School in 1943 where she was an honor student and member of the Torch Society. She met and fell in love with her husband to be who was stationed at Paine Field during WWII. Helen married William (Bill) Boyd Beeston on June 25, 1943. They are the parents of five children. Later in life Helen married Herbert H. Denison. Family and home life were important to Helen. She was a loving and devoted mother who gave her children a wonderful childhood. Birthdays, holidays, picnics, trips to the beach and parks were all special with Mom. She had a flair for putting fun into the most common of days. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was a member of the Beverly Park Ward. She earned her Golden Gleaner award. She served faithfully in all capacities and was a ward and stake Young Women's President for 25 years often traveling from north Seattle to Bellingham serving the youth. She is the last of the early members of the small branch established in the area in the 1920's. Helen was PTA president and active in the community. She served the elderly and handicapped as a leader in the Everett Shut In Club for over 30 years. She was credit manager at JC Penney in Everett, opened the Alderwood store and retired after 21 years of service. She worked as an insurance and securities representative for New York Life Insurance Co. for 20 years. Helen was president of Credit Women International, president of Everett Business and Professional Women, state president of BPW, a member of Soroptimist and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. She began the Outstanding Working Woman of the Year recognition program for Snohomish County that lasted for 13 years. Helen was awarded Woman of Achievement and Woman of the Year from Everett Community College and was recognized as one of 100 Outstanding Citizens of Everett during the Centennial celebration of the city. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Pernie Brannon; her brother, Ira N. Brannon; and her husbands Bill Beeston and Herb Denison. She is survived by her sister, Yvon Barela of Eugene, Ore. She leaves five children: Judy (Darwin) Paskett of Everett, Jeanie (Steve) Westover of Highland, Utah, Diane (Bill) Rohlman of Parker, Colo., Bill (Ruby) Beeston of Provo, Utah, Robert Beeston of Everett. Helen was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
