

Howard Jacob Mortvedt, age 98, of Everett, Washington passed away March 20, 2014. Howard was born to the late Jacob and Mary Mortvedt in Vermillion, South Dakota on April 26, 1915. Howard attended Everett High School and upon completion of graduation, he served twenty years in the Navy. Among his many talents, he served as an airplane mechanic during his service with the United States Navy and retired in 1963. Upon retiring, he continued to work for the next twenty years at the Veteran's Hospital. Howard belonged to the Scottish Rite, Shriner's, and the Cascade Presbyterian Church of Everett. Howard gave his whole life to his family. He spent a lifetime caring for and providing for his loved ones. He married the love of his life, Emily Elizabeth Webber, on June 21, 1941. Howard was preceded in death by Jacob Osmunden Mortvedt (father); Mary Eliza Lee (mother); his four brothers, seven sisters, and his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Emily. His surviving family are his two children, Howard William Mortvedt and Linda Reichl, his seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A committal service for Howard will take place at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Everett at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014. All who knew and loved Howard can join together in celebrating his life at his memorial service and reception at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway in Everett following Howard's committal service on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
