LouAnn Grady passed peacefully on December 18, 2021, after her third battle with cancer. She was full of life, love, family and faith, everyday she spent with us. She truly believed she would live to be 101 similar to her mother and Aunts, yet she was taken from us too soon at the age of 89. Being a loyal wife, caring mother, supportive friend, loveable grandma & great grandma, we know she is ready for her next journey in life.
Born LouAnn McBride on July 25th,1932 to Walter and Myrtle McBride in Plankinton, South Dakota. She was the youngest of 7 children and understood the importance of family. She attended Pierre High School and was a Page at the capital in Pierre, SD. She loved to talk about her adventures and memorable times with her siblings, nieces, and nephews in South Dakota. She was proud of her South Dakota heritage and would go back to visit any chance she got.
LouAnn met Jerry D. Grady in Le Mars, Iowa in 1955, and they found their way to Washington. She married Jerry in 1958 and raised six children with stops in Yakima, Ellensburg, Seattle, and finally settling down in Everett in 1970. Together Jerry and LouAnn focused on their children, friends, and church until his passing 1992. She continued to rely on her family, faith, and friends the remainder of her life. She was a longtime Everett/Mukilteo community member and a parishioner of St Mary Magdalen/St John Mission Catholic Church for 50 years. She was a staple in her Catholic community as she was a part of the outreach program and one of the original members of the “church ladies.” It was with these communities that she touched so many lives. LouAnn will be remembered by so many, with her sweet smile.
LouAnn would often say, "You can’t let grass grow under your feet.” She lived her life by that motto. Her greatest attributes were those of her 6 children, 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and longtime friendships who kept her on the go. There wasn’t a graduation, wedding, dinner invitation, school program, soccer, football or baseball game, she didn’t miss. She was our biggest cheerleader and always so thankful to be a part of creating memories with all of us.
She was a strong women surround by her family every step of the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Grady, her parents Walter and Myrtle McBride, her sisters Merle, Vivian, Erma, Mildred, Darlene, and brother Dale.
She was proud she was the last of her generation and knows her family will continue her legacy. She is survived by her children: Kelly (Vince) Bosa, Bill (Roni) Grady, Pat (Mary) Grady, John (Tina) Grady, Joe (Marlene) Grady, and Jane (Shane) Mason, 16 grandchildren: James, Jennifer, Julie, Taylor, MaryKate, Kevin, Sean, Esther, Michael, Hannah, Ryan, Peter, Harper, Meghan, Blake, and Cole and 8 great-grandchildren: Adie Andrew, George, Louise, James, Ed, Ethel, and Kathryn, along with many nieces and nephews.
Seattle Children’s was special to LouAnn as it has helped each generation of the Grady Family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of LouAnn Grady to Seattle Children’s Hospital.
A funeral mass celebrating LouAnn’s life will be held Thursday January 6th, 2022 at 11:00AM, at St. Mary Magdalen Parish 8517 7th Ave SE, Everett, WA 98208.
