Born April 17, 1924; Passed Away on May 2, 2017 on Tuesday Mary Schneider, wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away at the age of 93 years old. Mary was predeceased by: Nicholas Schneider (1st Husband); Johnny Schneider (Mary’s 2nd husband, US Army Korean War Combat Veteran 1951-53) and Raymond Schneider (Son). Mary is loved and missed by her family: Roberta Foley (Pat); Mary Berger (Rocky); Nicholas Schneider (Pam); Paul Schneider (Cindy); and Sandy Schneider. Mary will also be forever remembered by her 12 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren, and 8 Great Great Grandchildren. Mary was born in Mont, North Dakota by her parents Herman F. Huffman and Maude Leona Huffman. Her father had full time employment working in the coal mines; while her mother took care of the children. Mary worked in Everett, WA as a custodian at many businesses. Mary and Nicholas met and got Married. They had 5 beautiful children and, later, with sorrow, witnessed the death of her first husband and her son Raymond. Mary then married her second husband, Johnny, and remained married with their 5 children until his death. Due to her endearing love for children she stayed home to raise her 5 children and also raised a few grandchildren. There was no mystery about how much Mary loved being with children and teaching them good morals and manners. Mary’s hobbies included bowling, bingo, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. The Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) is an international fraternal organization that was founded on February 6, 1898, in Seattle, Washington. The organization's success is also attributed to its funeral benefits (no Eagle was ever buried in a potter's field), the provision of an aerie physician, and other membership benefits. The Eagles pushed for the founding of Mother's Day, provided the impetus for Social Security, and pushed to end job discrimination based on age. The Eagles have provided support for medical centers across the United States and Canada to build and provide research on medical conditions. A "new era for the women of Eagledom" began when an amendment to the Grand Aerie Laws to establish a Grand Auxiliary passed unanimously at the 1951 Grand Aerie Convention in Rochester, New York. Eagle Auxiliaries had existed before the Grand Auxiliary was formed, the first being founded on March 24, 1927. So you can see that Mary’s efforts for this prestigious organization helped many Americans. You can see more at this web address: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraternal_Order_of_Eagles
She was proud of her German and Scandinavian heritage and passed her love of her heritage to her kids and grandkids. Johnny bought Mary a small dog named Angel. She loved her dog and used to love to take it for a walk. Mary spent the last part of her life at the senior facility at Olympic Place in Arlington, WA. The staff there were fantastic and loved Mary Schneider very much. They helped Mary feel comfortable while she stayed at the facility. The caregivers would give Mary a kiss on her head every time they left the room. In the time of sorrow it was very important to make the extended family feel comfortable during their visits to see Mary at the facility. Mary was an exceptional mother and grandmother loved by family and friends.
