Neta Elaine Smith, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 29th, 2024. She was born on October 30, 1935, in Everett, Washington, to Earl and Mildred McConnell. Neta was one of 11 siblings and grew up surrounded by a large, loving family.
In 1954, Neta married the love of her life, John David Smith. Together, they had four children: Debbie (and husband Greg), David (and wife Theresa), Douglas Smith, and DeAnn Halstead. She was deeply devoted to her children, and they were a central part of her life. Later, Neta was blessed with eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Neta was known for her warmth, kindness, and her love for spending time with her family. She enjoyed frequent visits with her sisters, where they would play cards and share laughter. Neta was also a regular at bingo halls and casinos, where she enjoyed the thrill of the game. A passionate sports fan, she was an enthusiastic supporter of the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners, and was known for cheering them on during games.
Neta took great pride in her home, creating a welcoming environment for family and friends. Her door was always open, and her love for her family knew no bounds. She had a special way of making everyone feel at home.
Neta is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dave of 53 years, her parents, Earl and Mildred, and her 10 siblings. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
