“Steve” was born September 6, 1952 in Arlington, WA and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 30, 2016.
Steve was born and raised in the Arlington-Oso area and as a child, enjoyed fishing on the river and playing baseball. He graduated from Arlington HS in 1971 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He proudly served his country as a helicopter crew chief until 1976.
He pursued his career in aerospace and began working for the Boeing Company in 1978. Steve worked for Boeing for 29 years before his retirement as a Superintendent in 2007. He spent most of his time on the flight line overseeing 747 preflight and delivery. He had many colleagues he called friends.
Steve met his second wife, Judy in 1985. It didn’t take the two long to figure out they were soul mates. Their love was everlasting and strong like the wings of an eagle. They spent 30 wonderful years together and share many special memories.
Steve enjoyed taking trips with Judy, one of their favorite fishing spots was the Dean River in Canada, for fly fishing. Steve also enjoyed golfing, taking photos and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Judy, mother Betty Glass, a sister Claudia Chamness (husband Jim), his children Angela Ball, Debbi Hutter (husband Ken), stepchildren Joette Marsh and Taira Knee (husband Kyle) as well as eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and many other extended family members and friends.
Words cannot fully express the sense of deep loss, profound grief, or how much he is missed by his family. We are grateful for the special bond we shared and consider it a blessing to have had his guidance, wisdom and love. He touched so many lives with his compassionate heart, generosity and beautiful smile.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 13th, 3:00 PM at Evergreen Funeral Home located at 4504 Broadway in Everett.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Steve’s name to the “ALS Evergreen Chapter” http://webwa.alsa.org/site/PageServer?pagename=WA_homepage
