Albert Maloof passed away peacefully in his Fair Oaks, California home on March 26, 2026 at the age of 92 (or 95, depending upon records). He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlene (who passed in February of 2020), six of his seven siblings, and his parents.
Albert was born in Damascus, Syria to Elias and Julia Maloof and was one of a total of eight children. He immigrated to New York City in the United States in 1962 and married Charlene in 1967. Professionally he excelled in the niche business known as “architectural model making”, where he constructed scale models of projects so that the developers, investors, government agencies, and public could see what the project would like like upon completion. A couple of his more notable models were of Trump Tower, in New York and the Louvre museum, in Paris.
In 1974, he and Charlene adopted their son, Nicholas, from an orphanage in Beirut, Lebanon. The three of them lived together in New York City until 1985, when Albert retired and relocated his family to Fair Oaks, California, a suburb of Sacramento.
Albert attended St. Anna’s Greek Orthodox Christian Church in Roseville, California. Until the end, he enjoyed worshipping and fellowshipping there, as well as a variety of hobbies, most notably gardening, travel with Charlene, and a never-ending string of home-improvement projects.
Albert is survived by his son, Nicholas, daughter-“in-law”, Melissa, and two granddaughters, Amber and Elizabeth, as well as a sister, Leila, two years his junior.
Albert was an incredibly creative and hard-working person, overcoming tremendous adversity in Syria, during his immigration to the United States, and in the establishment of a business and family—all with minimal formal education. He was an energetic and amazing man, whose friends and family will miss him! Memory eternal!
