Betty Lois Taylor went home to her Lord on Friday, May 20, 2022 after a lengthy battle with her heart. Betty was born on January 4, 1930 in Denver Children’s Hospital, Denver, Colorado. She had three brothers who have preceded her in death, Joe McGlasson, Robert Haxton and Jack Lesser Jr. There was also a baby sister who died shortly after birth. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 54 years, Keith, step-daughter Carol and one great granddaughter, Ashleyann. Betty grew up on a farm approximately 6 miles northeast of Longmont, Colorado. As a youth she attended a one room school house that was located a little over a mile from the farm. In those days a youngster was expected to walk to school no matter how bad the weather. Betty graduated from Longmont High School and later married Paul Rhoads. They had two sons together, Paul Rhoads, Jr. and Gary Rhoads. The couple later divorced. Betty then met Keith Taylor while they both worked at the Gould Filter Factory in Longmont. They were married on November 27, 1955 in Reno, Nevada where they remained for many years. Keith would later adopt Paul and Gary in 1957. Keith and Betty lived in Reno until the closure of Stead Air Force Base forced a move to Rancho Cordova, California in June of 1966 so Keith could work at Mather Air Force Base. Betty lived in their Rancho Cordova home for a total of 51 years and then moved to Linus Oakes Retirement Village in Roseburg, Oregon in September,2017. She was very happy living at Linus Oakes and loved her corner apartment on the top floor with the great view.
Betty is survived by her two sons: Paul and his wife Teresa, Gary and his wife Linda, Step-daughter Connie Such and her husband John, ten grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on June 2nd at 2 PM at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks. A viewing time will precede the service starting at 1:00PM.
