She was the youngest of 9 children born to Edward G. and Katherine Mae Trousell-Baumeister. She was raised in Carleton, Michigan and attended St. Patrick Elementary and Our Lady of Lourdes High School.
She met and married the love of her life, Jim Eidson, in 1947. Their honeymoon was a cross-country trip to California where they made their home for the next 64 years. During that time they moved to Idaho for 4 years and Florida for a little more than a year, but California was home and they returned to spend their last years together in the Sacramento valley.
During her life Cassie was a devoted wife to Jim and loving mother to her 3 children: Ray, Karen and Patty. She was a great cook who passed her secrets on to all of her kids. After her retirement from Weinstocks/Macy’s Department Store, she dedicated herself to learning new skills such as machine embroidery, ceramic painting and crochet. She and Jim loved to go fishing and taking trips in the travel trailer; often bringing one or more of their grandsons with them. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid gardener, taking special pride in her beautiful flower gardens and rose collection. Christmas was her favorite time of the year; she always made the season a wondrous event with decorations, fancy gift wrapping and her best cookie recipes. Her pets were very special to her and she loved them dearly. Her special love, though, was for her grandsons. She adored each and every one of them, and kept them all close to her heart even though some were far away.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents and seven siblings. She is survived by one brother, Jack Baumeister; her children: Ray Eidson (Carol), Karen Hendricks (Charles), Patty Hall (Tom); her grandsons Rick Prestel, James Eidson (Angie Gongi), Curtis Eidson (Laura) , Anthony (Madeleine) Hall, Michael (Sarah) Hall; great-grandchildren: Emma, Sam, Dylan, Tyler, and Cooper.
