With angels rejoicing, the Lord took Cetarra Kyomi Lewis “Sissy” home from this world on December 20, 2025, in Gold River, CA. Born December 13, 1991, in Carmichael, CA to Melinda Lewis (Anicich) and Tyrone Lewis. Sissy leaves behind her devoted “Brother”, Blair Lewis whom she dearly loved and a large, supportive extended family.
Throughout her 34 years, Cetarra was surrounded by relatives who provided steadfast love and care. Her presence profoundly influenced her family, who valued her joyful, childlike spirit.
Among those mourning her loss are her aunts and uncles: Michael and Jeanne Anicich, Tonya Anicich (preceded in death by Vince), Chris and Sally Anicich, Kerry Kenney (preceded in death by Phil), Cindy Abercrombie (preceded in death by Bob), Tony and Afton Lewis, and Mark and Felicia Lewis. Sissy held a special place in her heart for her devoted grandmother “Obatchan”, Suzuko Lewis, who cared for Sissy her entire life. Sissy enjoyed and was dearly loved by her maternal grandparents, Al and Barbara Anicich, who preceded her in death.
Cetarra was diagnosed with Angelman’s Syndrome before she was two-years old accompanied by a severe seizure disorder. Despite frequent hospitalizations and ongoing medical concerns, she demonstrated resilience throughout her life. Her parents provided devoted support, and her brother Blair became an integral part of her caregiving team. Cetarra valiantly endured a life of chronic health issues; and although she lived to reach her 34th birthday, her mental acuity was nearer a toddler, so she was especially loved and endeared by her parents, who might have spoiled her. Upon adulthood, Blair also joined the ranks of her minions, whom she managed to boss without saying a word.
Sissy was extremely social and although she had no verbal language, she loved being part of many family gatherings over the years. She had 25 first cousins, and 35 second cousins. She grew up with her cousins, who became accustomed to her delightful smile and gentle hair pulling. She is survived by her cousins and their families: Alex and Nick Anicich, Brandon and Cameron Anicich, Vincent, Natahsa, Vanessa, Nathaniel and Austin Anicich, Nicole Barmby, Jake, Rachael and Jeffery Kenney, Jordan, Parker, and Bailey Abercrombie and Savannah Davis; Tevenn Lewis and Olivia Kuzinich, Andrea Galvan, April Ybarra and Alyssa Moore, and Darryn, Desmond and Brandon Lewis.
Cetarra deeply impacted the lives of those in her community, neighborhood, church and family. She attended Odyssey Learning Center in Orangevale, CA until she was 21 years old and concluded her education at United Cerebral Palsy, Orange Grove Campus, where she loved every staff member and teacher and gently provoked her fellow students with a smile on her face.
Sissy was unconditionally loved and thrived in the overcoming power of that love. Although at her diagnosis, we were devastated; we soon discovered that Sissy was placed in our lives on purpose. She has changed our lives forever, making us better people. The God of the great exchange brought beauty and wonder from a tragic diagnosis and heart ache.
Sissy was deeply loved in this life, as was demonstrated by the almost 100 people who came to see her before she slipped into eternity. We can only imagine her greeting in the next life, where she will be free of sickness, perfect, dancing, talking and surrounded by her heavenly family. We will miss you sweet girl!
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 24th at 2:00 pm at River City Christian, 10933 Progress Court, Rancho Cordova, CA.
Cetarra lived with Angelman's Syndrome, a condition that shaped her life and the love that surrounded her.
