Edna Joy Mitchell, 76 of Elverta, California entered into rest May 11, 2018 surrounded by her husband, daughter, granddaughter and Chaplain. She is preceeded in passing by her mother Dorothy Della Lockhart, stepfather Walter D. Lockhart Jr., paternal father John R. Paugh, and sister Shirley Enloe.
Born Edna Joy Paugh on July 24, 1941 in Snohomish, Wa. To Dorothy and John, Edna’s family moved to the Rio Linda Area when she was 13 years old. She attended and graduated from Rio Linda Jr. High then attended Grant Union High School, Highlands High School and graduated from San Juan High School class of 1961. She enjoyed attending Highlands class reunions with her husband and former class mates. Edna is survived by her husband Roger L. Mitchell, son Harold, daughter Joell’, son Joey, brother Dick, sister Patty, 5 granddaughters and 5 great-grandchildren. Edna was a wonderful lady and the matriarch of the family. She was an excellent seamstress who made clothes and costumes for her family. She took pleasure in baking as a hobby and side job. Wedding cakes, birthday cakes, nothing can compare to a Grammie cake. She was a fireman’s wife and an attentive mother and Grammie who loved her family and community. Services will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane in Fair Oaks of Friday May 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, UC Davis Children’s Hospital or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Edna’s name.
