Garry is survived by his wife Arianna, son Adam, daughters Carrina and Celina and cherished granddaughters Addison and Cadence. He is also survived by his previous wife Rebecca.
A steadfast husband to Arianna, an ardent son and caretaker of parents Sheldon and Paula, a proud older brother to Ari and Alex, and a loving father to Adam, Carrina and Celina, anyone close to Garry never questioned his undying support and love. His presence was a source of joy and comfort to all lucky enough to call him a friend.
Garry’s passions besides family and friends were the outdoors, sports and music. He loved fishing in the Sierra Nevada and Rocky Mountains, as well as relaxing on a rugged stretch of the California coast. He was an intense fan who cheered on the UCLA Bruins and Denver Nuggets, but was most fervent for his LA Dodgers. He equally appreciated music with depth such as the anti-establishment themes of the Clash, his favorite band, along with the message of acceptance from John Lennon and love from Bob Marley. Garry exhibited each of these characteristics in his daily life.
Professional occupation never defined Garry, but he was proud to wear many hats, including working for his grandfather’s West LA corner store as a teenager, managing the Rocky Mountain Region for the Money Store, and teaching life skills to developmentally delayed young adults. The fortitude to finish his bachelor’s degree later in life was a proud accomplishment, but paled next to the pride he felt in his children graduating college and finding successful careers.
Garry taught us all how to love deeply, laugh from the soul and cry with compassion. He will be deeply missed.
