Jer-Bear went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 15, 2021. Born in Chicago on July 14, 1933 to Peter and Jennie Verbaere, Jerry was a devout Catholic who practiced his faith every day. Jerry was a proud veteran of the Air Force, where he served in Europe and Africa. Jerry returned to Chicago after his service and began a career with the Pullman Company. Jerry chose to cut his career with Pullman short in order to care for his invalid father. Later in life Jerry became a care giver to a close family friend. Caring for others was his calling. Jerry was pre-deceased by his parents and siblings Leona, Martha, Lou, Peter and Jennie and is survived by his brother Fred (Joan) and many nephews and nieces. Jerry moved to California in October 2019 to spend his final years in the care of family. He was a kind man who will be missed every day by family and friends. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane Fair Oaks, Ca. with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Citrus Heights .
