

Josephine Lorraine Sloan (nee Daniels), age 74 of Rancho Cordova, transitioned into the larger life on September 21, 2011. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 24, 1937 to Ceola and Louis Daniels who had seven children. Her siblings Lewis Daniels, Edward Daniels, and Margaret Butler preceded her in death as well as her parents. She attended Sacred Heart High School in Detroit, where she met her husband Willie Alfred Sloan. It is during their courtship that Willie decided to join the United States Air Force and asked Josephine to be his wife. During their 59 years of marriage and travels, Josephine worked as a bartender and her personality was positively infectious and unforgettable. It was not uncommon for complete strangers to meet and find during their discussion that their commonality was knowing Josephine. If you received an invitation to Josephine and Willie's home, you knew automatically her charismatic flare, and love for entertaining was going to embrace you with warmth, plenty of laughter, and tales of military days. Josephine made the family home a place of comfort and enjoyment for all who knew her, whether playing pinochle, bingo, holiday parties, or a social gathering because she befriended you. Her natural ability for the finer details in decorating, catering weddings, and hostessing provided additional opportunities for those who lives she touched, to see the creativity and innovative ideas she imparted into everyons lives. Josephine believed in being the example, not only for her family but her friends as well. This included her commitment, values, and beliefs in family first, honesty, integrity, and wholeheartedness. Josephine was a loyal friend, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and an extremely loving wife to her husband Willie. Josephine who was given the nickname and term of endearment "Fox" by her husband, Willie A Sloan in November 1952. Josephine believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age in the Catholic Church and continued throughout her life to live by these principles. Josephine leaves to mourn her passing her devoted husband Willie, her children Darnelda Trower, Wilsetta (Richard) McClain, Charlotte (Johnny) Cowser, Diane (Ray) Parham and Willie (Tonya) Sloan Jr; three brothers Noveless (Drucilla) Daniels, Cecil Daniels, and Richard Daniels; grandchildren Danita (Bryan) Liptrot, Ebonie (Damon) Malone, William Trower III, Raphael Smith, Richard (Keisha) McClain II, Porschia Sloan - who preceded her death, Latisha Sloan, Dominque King, Sasha (Joey) Brownlee, Jazmyn Gregg, Janis Sloan and Donte Lewis; great grandchildren Y'monie McClain, Kylie McClain, Richard III, Egypt Trower, Trey Lacey, Julie Brownlee, Arianna Sloan, Hannah Liptrot, Eniya Morgan Malone, Bentley Gregg and Brooklyn Sloan. Additionally a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her dearly.
