Lewis Dale Mefford

Lewis was born on January 19, 1942 in Vinita, Oklahoma. Both Oklahoma and Sacramento were home to him. As a child his family moved back and forth from Vinita, Oklahoma to Sacramento, CA. While he started High School in Vinita he graduated from Grant High School in Sacramento.

Lewis loved to work. As a man of many talents he worked in several different occupations over the years. He did everything from a farming, siding, roofing, warehouse supervisor, to his own businesses of owner operator of Florin Auto Wreckers and a Goat Ranch. He rounded this all out by retiring in Welch, Oklahoma about 13 years ago on 180 Acres to bale hay, fix fences, mow fields, count cows and work on tractors.

Lewis has a very large family. He was predeceased by his Mother and Father Roxie and Dennis Mefford, his two sisters Rosie Long and Alice Beggs, brother-in-law Ray Beggs, sister-in-law Jo Mefford and one of his brothers Dennis Mefford Jr.

He is survived by his three brothers Bill Mefford and wife Carolyn, Delbert Mefford and Richard and his wife Tammy and many Nieces and Nephews. He was a loving Father to his children Raymond Mefford, Sandra Mefford and Rose Cummins, his 8 grandchildren Lewis, Deseree, Phillip, Dylan, Tina, Angela, Katie and DJ, and his 11 great grandchildren Alexis, Tyler, Lily, Sam, Nathan, Nevaeh, Justin, Maddy, Lucas, Austin and Jesse.

Lewis attended church at Bunker Hill Baptist Church in Vinita, Oklahoma. Lewis never went anywhere that he didn’t meet a friend. He made them everywhere and he believed he should always be a better friend and neighbor than anyone was to him. He will be missed by many.

Lewis will be laid to rest on April 13, 2019 at 10:00am and a viewing on April 12, 2019 from 4:00- 7:00 at Mount Vernon Memorial Park Cemetery, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, Ca.

A public visitation for Lewis will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Ln, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, April 13, 2019, 10:00 AM at Mount Vernon Memorial Park.
