
A long time resident of Sacramento County, passed from this life December 18, 2012. The oldest of 11 children, Marland was born April 13, 1927 in Dewey County, Oklahoma to parents Verna Joyce (Barringer) and Rudolph Ervan Haury. He was preceded in death by his parents, second wife Ann E. Haury, brother Harold and nephew John Hopping.
Marland is survived by his sons David (Kilhwa), Thomas (Susan) and daughter Mary Durham; grandchildren, Debbie (Doug) Aragon, Monica Haury, Thomas Jr (Sara) & Melanie (Kevin) Haury-Pua; great grandchildren, Salvadore, Zachary & Bibiana Alejo, Terrance Haury & Daphne Pua; great great grand daughter Isabell; siblings Velma Rymel, Paul, Dale, Charlotte Hinds, Victor, Laretta Key, Ralph, Linda Hopping and Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, their children and grand children.
With his family, Marland moved to California in 1944. He was an army veteran of WWII, serving in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor. Post military life, he drove big rigs, co-owned a sugar beet harvesting business, was an auto mechanic and retire from civil service from Mc Clellan AFB.
An engaging and outgoing personality, Marland enjoyed travel, bowling, pinochle, slot machines and conversation with family and friends. We’re pretty sure he never met a stranger! He will be keenly missed. Rest easy Dad!
Marland’s children wish to thank Aunt Laretta for her tireless dedication to assisting her adored “Bubba” in the last years of his life. We love you. . . . Thank you!
Marland’s ashes will be interred at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Fair Oaks, Ca; Arlington Cemetary, VA and a family plot in Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held in February, at a time and place to be determined.
