1930 - 2014
Our lovely wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend got her wings July 2, 2014.
Marvis was born September 7, 1930 in Prinsburg, MN. She met Lewis Douma after high school and they were married on June 24, 1948. Together they had 5 children on the farm before moving to California in 1959.
Marvis was an extraordinary woman, not one to wait on life, she went for it. By 1965 she was the top sales manager for Tupperware in the Western US. It was at this time that Lewis and Marvis packed up their children and moved to Eugene, OR to develop a Tupperware Distributorship. They moved their successful distributorship to Sacramento, CA and together built it into one of the top distributorships in the NW Region. Their success together allowed them to retire in 1984. In retirement Marvis and Lewis traveled together
and enjoyed many activities with their friends.
Marvis was an incredible artist of oil paints. She loved painting the beauty of nature and people interacting.
Her best talent was that of a devoted mother and caring wife. Marvis loved the Christmas holiday where all of her family gathered every year anticipating what surprise she had planned.
She is survived by her husband Lewis Douma, her son and daughter-in-law Gene and Debbie Douma, her daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Phil Engelman and daughter Carol Douma. Marvis will be greatly missed by her 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Marvis is preceded in death by two sons, Curtis and Brian Douma.
A memorial service will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA 95628 on July 15th at 11:00 am. A grave side service will follow the memorial at 12:00 noon. Viewing will be July 14th between 5pm & 8pm.
