Mary was born in Fayetteville, TN, October 6th, 1943. She graduated from Tennessee State University in 1964. She was a loving and faithful companion married to Clarence L. Stokes (C.L.) on April 22, 1967 in Nashville, TN.
Traveling with C.L. to various places in the States and the world, Mary worked for the AME Church Sunday School Union in Nashville, Non Commissioned Officers Club in Lajas Field Azores Portugal and RAF Alconbury England. Her final employment was with the Internal Revenue Service as a Territory Secretary. She retired after over twenty years retiring on December 31, 2008. She was an avid bowler enjoying membership in several bowling leagues.
She is survived by her husband C.L., Celisa Priest - daughter and son Curtis L. Stokes. She was a wonderful lady who surely will be missed by those of us that had the fortune of meeting and knowing her.
