There were several things Pete truly loved in his life: his family, sports and collecting stamps. Whether it was the Nebraska Cornhuskers moving down the field or a homerun hit by the Oakland A’s, they had his full attention! He coached his son’s little league, and then moved on to adult softball; he even bowled for a few years.
The family took several trips during the summers to family reunions, making stops along the way to sightsee, as well as vacationing in Paris while stationed in France, creating memories that will last a lifetime, and lots of pictures; Dad was always carrying around that camera!
Pete was born in Bloomington, NE on March 5th, 1928. He spent his summers as a teen working on farms and played basketball and football in high school. He was drafted into the Army and served during World War II as well as the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Upon retiring, he packed up his family and moved to Sacramento.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents Mae and Alvin and five siblings; Charledene, Daphna, Beverly, Donna and Sandy. He is survived by his children Kendra Murray, Sharon Clifton (Gary), Alicia Cleveland and Jeff Whitehead, grandchildren Ken, Amber, Ryan, Tayler and Brady, 3 great grandchildren Mason, Aidan and Payton, sister Loretta and brothers Barney and Delwyn.
Private services will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon in September.
