Merle W Becker

Merle W. Becker was born on 10/26/1921 and went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family on 2/26/2012. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years Ethelynde Edith Becker and his parents Walter M. and Mary F. Becker. Merle was a loving father to Cherlene Becker Joachim (Gary), cherished grandfather to Stefanie Pfutzenreuter (Shane) and Joey Ortiz, great-grandfather (Papa) to Sierra and Isabel Ortiz and Aleah Broadnax, step-grandfather to Jessica Joachim. He is also survived by his sisters Darlene Schmechel and Cheryl Wilkinson and his many nieces and nephews. Born in Loleta, CA and resided in Eureka for 77 years before he and Ethelynde moved to Rancho Cordova in 1998 to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. He served his country in the US Army in WWII from 1942-1945 in New Guinea, So. Philippines, Luzon and in occupation forces in Yokosuka Japan for a short time. Prior to retirement he worked as a driver/salesman for North Coast Mercantile in Eureka for 31 years. He will be missed by all that loved him and will forever be in our hearts. At Merle’s request no services will be held. Internment will be at Ocean View Cemetery in Eureka. Condolences can be shared with his daughter at [email protected]
