

Naomi Beshears Fennell was the baby girl born to Anna Chaney Landry and Robert H. Beshears. She was born in Maringouin, Louisiana on October 15th of 1934.
Naomi was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Chaney Landry and father, Robert H. Beshears; her son, Brian Keith Burch; her siblings Carrie Beshears, Verlia Fields, Mary Long, Robert Clifton Beshears, Myrtle Williams, Antoinette Baines, Eddie Beshears and father of her children, Walter G. Burch. Naomi leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Woodrow Fennell; her brother, James Beshears and her children; daughter, Cynthia (Gene), sons, Mark and Bradley Burch (Chana); her grandchildren, LeMayo (Roseanna), Tajuana (Lance), Tybyu, (and including their siblings, Leticia and Tasia); grandchildren, Brandon and Cameron; her great-grandchildren, RaShan, Wynter Atayah Tashan, Lanae and Taj, and many, many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews; and many, many, many cousins.
Naomi went to Booker T. Washington in New Orleans in the 11th grade when she stayed with another sister. In Baton Rouge she went to a new school, McKinley Senior High. Graduating from high school at sixteen, Naomi finished junior college at eighteen, studying Secretary of Business at Phoenix College. Marrying Walter G. Burch, an airman, they were stationed in Pleasanton, CA and later they were stationed in Germany with two children, then back to Sacramento where they had their third child. After Sacramento, the family was stationed in Turkey where they had their youngest child, then finally headed back to California with all four children. She claimed that her children were her proudest accomplishment.
Commitment to her family and God was paramount in her life. She was a prayer warrior and demonstrated her spiritual love by sharing and caring for others on a daily basis with compassion beyond compare.
She began and ended her beautiful and long life by loving and caring for many, many children, family members and close friends. She especially enjoyed preparing holiday feast and celebrations. Naomi had many hobbies and talents; baking, painting, sewing, quilting, gardening, fishing, traveling, and of course babysitting.
Naomi's various accomplishments included achieving the Civil Service level of GS-12. She majored in Psychology at California State University Sacramento and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree. Upon her retirement she obtained her Real Estate Broker's license. She also purchased a beauty shop and sold it after a few years to pursue other interests. As a member of the Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, she actively worked at inspiring young girls (Gamma Phi Teen) in developing self-confidence as to becoming all that God had created them to be.
Naomi married Woodrow Fennell on June 26, 1983 and enjoyed forty years of God's blessings. She was truly committed to her vows "Until death do us part".
On February 17, 1991 she became a member of the Cordova Baptist Church. She served faithfully for a number of years before hosting weekly bible study groups and became an avid Christian leader.
