I'm so sad to lose my neighbor and the undisputed "mayor" of midtown 24th Street.  Rest in peace my beloved friend.

I worked with Richard in 1979 when we both worked at the Governor's Office of Planning and Research.  We shared a birthday two years apart and we celebrated with occasional lunches and dinners over the years.  I enjoyed his biting wit, sharp observations about politics, bureaucracy and life and his gentle soul underneath it all.  See you in our next life.  Love you.

Almost a month later and my heart still has a hole...only you know how deep my feelings went and continue to go...peace and quiet be yours...I'll keep you close always.

You once called me an 'inspiration'.  Seeing you the last day you were here at the CERS offices was an inspiration to me.  Thanks of the laughs and good thoughts for the past 11 years.  Rest in sweet peace.

My prayers go out to Richard's family during this time of loss, may they remember all that is good in him.  Richard will be remembered fondly as one the guys with the biggest hearts ever in history.  Richard was always the nicest man in life.  When I worked with him for five years at CERS, Richard was always pleasant and had such a way to make a person crack a smile during tough times.  May he rest in peace and I know he is in heaven above watching over all of us.  I pray that others find comfort in future thoughts concerning Richard and his many talents.

I smiled and waved at Richard when he last came into the office, about 2 weeks prior to his passing.  Little did I know that it would be a wave goodbye. His presence will be missed.

For years Richard sat across the aisle from me at CERS.  He was my buddy...I will always remember the morning chats we had and his kind spirit and how funny Richard was...he will be missed.

Richard - you were so amazing to work with the past ten years.  You could always make me smile.  You are dearly missed here at the office.

What an amazing man, and a pleasure to know.  I enjoyed working with Richard at CERS.  He was always kind and considerate.  A true spirit and soul. May you rest in peace.

I'm sooo sad you are gone my dear neighbor. Fellini and Lola miss you too. I wish with all my heart we could raise a glass and talk politics. I wish you peace and silence.

I will miss you Richard. And many others will too I am sure. Some may not know that Richard made significant contributions to California energy policy - including the first summer heat forecast. Always excellent. Always professional. You will be missed.

I worked with Richard many years ago and knew him as an incredibly smart and bitingly witty person.  My heart goes out to his friends and family.
