Zita Frances Neely

Zita Frances Neely was born on February 8, 1927 in Los Angeles at the California Hospital. Zita passed peacefully on December 31, 2023 surrounded by family. Preceded in death by Ed, her loving husband of 64 years. Zita loved her family, daughters Lynn Dowing, Gwen Tilton, and Paula Spreitzer (Gene). Grandchildren Adam Dowing (Sue), Alison Tilton, Kelly Wittmeyer (Matt), Ryann Miller (Shane), and Brett Spreitzer. Great Grandchildren Amber, Braydon, Haley, Ashley, Mia, and Kai. Great Great, Adeline. Zita graduated from Dorsey High in LA and attended UCLA. Zita was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since joining in 1954. Zita was active in all the children’s activities including 10 years as a Girl Scout leader. She was also an excellent seamstress. She made most of her square dance dresses and clothes for her daughters and grandchildren. Zita and Ed loved square dancing, their 5 dachshunds, RVing (Wheelabouts), and traveling and cruising the world. Zita had many fun years with her Red Hat and card playing groups and enjoyed a wide variety of crafts. She will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. A memorial service for Zita will be held on February 7, 2024, 1:00 pm at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks. Reception to follow at Oak Grove Estates, 7700 Lauppe Lane, Citrus Heights. Donations may be made in Zita’s honor to SSPCA or Best Friends. Zita will be interred with her beloved Ed at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
