Abelardo “Chacho” L. Sanchez passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was blessed with 86 years of life where he was able to make many beautiful memories to leave his family to cherish forever. Abelardo was born March 16, 1933 to Calixto and Maria Longoria Sanchez in Falfurrias, Texas. He was a truckdriver for many years until his retirement.
Abelardo is preceded in death by his parents and all but one of his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Amparo G. Sanchez of Falfurrias; two sons, Adolfo (Martha) Sanchez of Brownsville, Texas and Arnold (Dalia) Sanchez of Falfurrias; four daughters, Aurora “Loli” (Doug) Brooks of Mission, Texas, Anna (Andres) Martinez and Audelia (Raul Monsevais) Sanchez of Edinburg, Texas and Alicia (JR) Martinez of Falfurrias; brother, Melquiades (Petra) Sanchez of Falfurrias; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and many extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Adolfo Ivan Sanchez, Arnoldo Sanchez, Jr., Theodore "Ted" Brooks, Andres Martinez, Jr., Robert R. Morales and Joey Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Abelardo "AB" Sanchez, Raul Gabriel Monsevais, Aaron Sanchez and Abiel Sanchez.
Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with a Rosary being prayed at 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias with services to conclude at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
