

A.P. Wedgworth, Sr., retired heavy equipment contractor and longtime rancher, passed away at his ranch south of Mirando City, July, 8 2013. He was born to Preston Wedgworth and Margaret Clark Wedgworth in Phoenix, Arizona on December 29, 1923.
His family moved back to Bandera, Texas in 1939, where he met and married his wife, Doris F. Phillips. He enlisted in the Navy Seabees as a Machinist’s Mate-Second Class, May 25, 1943 and served in the Pacific until his Honorable Discharge December of 1945.
Upon his return, A.P. joined his father and younger brother in the brush clearing business. When he discovered the South Texas brush country, he and his young family moved south and eventually settled in Hebbronville. He worked hard at his business most of his life to provide for his family. A.P. retired from the heavy equipment business in 1985 and moved to the ranch to devote his time to his ranching interests.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and a young daughter, Sharon Ann Wedgworth.
A.P. is survived by his daughter, Elva Margaret Hellen and her husband, Bill; his son, Alvis
Preston Wedgworth, Jr. and his wife, Rosa Lydia; grandchildren, Christopher L. Hellen and his wife, Sylvia, Leslie C. Hellen, Kelly M. Wedgworth, Wesley W. Wedgworth and his wife, Alicia, Natalie M. Wedgworth, Phillip R. Wedgworth and Clarissa Trevino; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Christen, C.W., Chris Hellen, Addison Wedgworth and Addison Gregoire. He is also survived by numerous nieces and neohews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville.
The family suggests memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.
