In her daily life, Antonia practiced Faith, Hope and Love in God, and on January 28, 2014, He brought her home where she will forever enjoy the promises of Christ. According to 1 Corinthians 13:13, the greatest of these is Love. Antonia was Love. Jesus said “You shall Love the Lord your God with all your Heart and with all your Soul and with all your Mind.” And “You shall Love your Neighbor as Yourself”. Antonia followed that exactly and her love and devotion to the Lord and her family and friends was unceasing. She was born in Laredo, Texas on August 28, 1919 to Filiberto and Santos Ybanez. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Filiberto Ybanez Jr. (+Juanita) and Homero Ybanez, sisters Maria Y. Ramirez (+Agustin), Lilia Y. Garcia (+Winiberto), Hortencia Y. Ramirez (+Fernando), and many nephews and nieces. She is survived by sisters, Santos Y. Martinez (+Ramiro), Aida Y. Ramos (+Alvaro), Olga Y. Ramirez (+Fernando), sister-in-law Crisanta Ybanez and many much loved nephews and nieces.
Antonia worked at the Nuevo Mundo department store in Hebbronville and later at the New York Store. She was a dedicated employee who always displayed respect to the work at hand and provided the most outstanding service to all of the customers. Many who shopped at the New York Store can say that Tonita was one of the best store clerks to ever work in Hebbronville.
Loving and serving God and others was the highest priority in Antonia’s life. She was a blessing to her parents. While continuing to work her full time job, she also cared and served her mother while she was ill and stayed by her side until her death. She was a blessing to friends. Antonia cared for many children in Hebbronville. She often watched them, while their parents went out to Club Dances on a Saturday Night. She would say that babysitting was not an extra job for her, that the children she cared for were like her own children and she loved them all the same. She was a blessing to her brothers and sisters. You could count on Antonia to travel anywhere to assist family in time of need as well as participate in times of joy. She was a blessing to her nephews and nieces. Her nephews and nieces were her pride and joy and she was a second mother to all of them. Her charity, patience and kindness towards all of them were the greatest blessings and gifts they could receive. Thank You, Tia Tonia for all of your Love for us. She would often say “Yo los quiero mucho, a todos”. Tia, We Love You too! Her hospitality, her cooking, her pan de polvo, her smile and again and again her constant Love for all will remain forever.
We are all saddened to see Antonia go, but at the same time we are all very happy that now she is reaping the reward in Heaven that God promised her on the day she was born. Peace and Joy to Antonia.
Love of Jesus Fill Us, Holy Spirit Guide Us, Will of the Father be Done.
