Elma Rita Zarate entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at her residence in Alice, Texas surrounded by her three daughters and her grandchildren. She was born on February 23, 1960 to Alfredo Zarate and Abentura Robledo Zarate in Falfurrias, Texas and was blessed with 59 years of life. Although some may think her life was short-lived, Elma always kept her faith in the Lord and was ready to be welcomed into the gates of Heaven by the Lord, her parents and her brother, Domingo Escamilla.
Elma was a full time mother who dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She was a woman of faith and held on to it until her last breath. She loved the beach and dancing and she would always say, “I may not be perfect, but I always do the best that I can.” Her children will forever be grateful for her best efforts and all the sacrifices she made for them.
Elma leaves behind to reminisce on her memories her three daughters, Michelle Ann Zarate of Alice, Jessica (Albert Lopez Vasquez) Regalado of Alice and Amanda Lee (Felipe) Villalon of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Alfredo Zarate, Elvin Zarate and Willie (Criselda) Zarate; five sisters, Isabel Flores, Maria Godines, Josephina Garza, Rebecca Zarate and Christina (Freddy) Cruz; seven grandchildren, Nathan Nathaniel Hall, Alexis “Nena” Marie Denise Zuniga, Leonardo “Gordo” Toribo Zuniga, Victor “Chiqinino” Zuniga III, Kyleen Nikole Vasquez, Alyson Jae Vasquez and Devyn Jayce Rodriguez and one grandson on the way, Sebastian Felipe Villalon; one great-grandson, Marcel Hall; father of her children, Armando Regalado and his surviving siblings; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Elma left behind a special message for her siblings. She stated “Always be strong and remember that I love you all very much and forever will. Please watch over my girls and my grandbabies.”
Private Family Services will be held at a later date.
