Ester Navarro Olvera

Ester N. Olvera. was born Aug.15, 1938 on her parents farm in La Gloria, Texas. Prior to graduating from Premont High School she traveled the country working in factories in the Northwest and Chicago. After graduation, she married Pablo Longoria Jr. and started her life as a wife and mother. While living in California, she re-entered the workforce at the Naval Research Center. In 1975 she and her family moved back to Falfurrias, Texas and began working at NAS Kingsville in the Engineering Dept as a Drafting Tech. She married her second husband Joe Olvera and retired from the Civil Service. Soon she went back to her first love which was the church. She became an ordained minister and for years did the work of the Lord faithfully and tirelessly.

Ester passed away peacefully at her home in Alice on Aug. 26. Ester is survived by her three sons Pablo (Lynn) Longoria and Ricardo (Sherri) Longoria both of Corpus Christi, TX and Jose Ramon (Glenda Grimes) of Premont. A daughter Adelita (Thomas) Deaton of Brownfield, TX. Four brothers Ramon Navarro Jr. of Falfurrias, TX, Reynaldo Navarro of La Joya, TX, Elijio Navarro of Corpus Christi, TX and Rene Navarro of Milwaukee, WS. Three sisters Elida Garza of Falfurrias, TX, Emma Petri of Houston, TX and Elva Navarro of (La Gloria) Falfurrias, TX. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her first husband, Pablo Longoria Jr.

Prayer services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday August 29, 2010 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday August 30, 2010 at the First Presbyterian church of Falfurrias. Interment will follow at the Brethren Cemetery in Falfurrias.
