We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Ofilia Chavera, the beloved matriarch and guiding light of our family. Ofilia peacefully entered her everlasting life on Monday, January 5, 2026, at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by the family she devoted her life to and loved so deeply.
Ofilia Jimenez was born on July 25, 1946, in Falfurrias, Texas, to Domingo Jimenez Sr. and Maria Arguellas Jimenez. She was blessed with 79 years filled with unwavering faith, boundless love, and a selfless spirit that touched everyone who knew her.
Ofilia was a hardworking and independent woman who found joy in baking and cooking for those she loved. She cherished dancing with her husband and took great pride in always being there for others whenever they were in need.
Above all else, Ofilia was an amazing wife; a devoted mother; a loving grandmother and great-grandmother; a caring sister and aunt; and a tireless provider. She was the most supportive grandmother, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Ofilia lived her life putting others first, always ensuring her family was cared for, protected, and deeply loved. Her strength and sacrifices built the foundation and values her family will carry forward for generations.
Ofilia treated everyone as she wished to be treated—with kindness, patience, respect, and compassion. She had a rare gift for lifting others up, always ready to offer a helping hand, comforting words, or a warm meal or baked treat. She never met a child she did not treat as her own, lovingly caring for them and comforting them with her unmistakable motherly ways.
Her home was a place of refuge, happiness, and unconditional love. No one ever felt like a stranger in Ofilia’s presence; she welcomed everyone with an open heart. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched, the values she instilled, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is preceded in death by her parents Domingo and Maria Jimenez; husband, Mario Chavera; sisters, Ofelia Lopez and Christelia Arevalo; and her niece, Mary Alice Jimenez.
