Sylvia S. Vasquez

Sylvia S. Vasquez, affectionately known as “Tia Lala” to her family, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the age of 77 at her daughter’s residence in McAllen, Texas. She was born on December 28, 1947, to Alfredo L. Silvas, Sr. and Teresa Alegria Silvas in Falfurrias, Texas.

Sylvia was the anchor of her family and the most genuine and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and listening to music. Tia Lala expressed her love through her passion for cooking, always preparing meals filled with love for her family and friends. She cherished visits from her loved ones at the ranch in Encino, and always waited for their honks and waves as they departed.

Tia Lala is now reunited in Heaven with those who preceded her, including her parents, Alfredo and Teresa; her husband, Alfredo Vasquez; and three siblings, Estefana Silvas, Alfredo Silvas Jr., and Sandra Silvas.

She leaves behind to continue her legacy her four children, Cynthia S. (Felix, III) Landez of McAllen, Rhonda Lee Silvas (Jaime) Vargas of Falfurrias, Orlando S. (Genoveva Salinas) Vasquez of Encino, and Roxann Vasquez of Encino; brothers, Lauro A. (Elvaray) Silvas of Falfurrias and Paul (Irma) Silvas of Alamo, Texas;10 grandchildren, Brittany (Alejandra) Landez, Sean Matthew (Alexandra) Landez, Taylor Landez, Aaron S. (Marisol) Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez, Adam Rodriguez, Victoria Lee Rodriguez, Megan Leila Rodriguez, MaKenzy Rae Vasquez and Orlando Amadeo Vasquez, Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Kristen Faye Landez, Aleya Joelle Landez, Sophia Lee Rodriguez, Emilio James Narvaez and Allison Rae Arce and one the way, Santana Elena Landez; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Pallbearers will be Brittany Landez, Sean Matthew Landez, Taylor Landez, Aaron S. Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez and Adam Rodriguez.

A Rosary will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Silvas Family Cemetery on FM 755 in Encino.
