David Richard Bisterfeldt, D.D.S, 39 years old of River Forest, Illinois, sadly passed away on October 17th, 2023. David was born October 21, 1983 in Winfield, Illinois to Richard Bisterfeldt Junior (deceased) and Joan Bisterfeldt. He was a dedicated student, graduating top of his high school class, and matriculating to Benedictine University before attending dental school at the University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC). He studied diligently at both universities, going so far as to memorize his textbooks. His devotion to his studies paid off, and he graduated valedictorian from his dental school. From there, he started his esteemed career as a dentist, most recently practicing at McDonnell Dental and Northwestern Dental Center. David cared deeply about his patients who often vocalized their appreciation for his kindness and warmth. David also provided clinical instruction for recent dental graduates as a respected Instructor in the Dental Residency Program at Northwestern Medical Center.
In 2011, David became a father to his cherished daughter, Harper. Her arrival reoriented his priorities, and he navigated fatherhood with deep affection and joy. He especially loved his daughter’s white-blond hair, soft as silk when he kissed her head. In 2015, David married his beloved wife, Tracy, and became a loving and involved stepfather to Deacon. He admired Deacon’s drive and dedication to sports and loved watching him test out a new pitch on the mound. On October 1, 2016, Tracy and David became parents to their son, Owen, who David adored. Whether it was to cuddle and read, or teach to dribble a basketball, David prioritized spending time with him and making him smile. As a blended family, they loved game nights, evening fires, and spending time outdoors–David’s happiest place.
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to David, beloved husband of Dr. Tracy Bisterfeldt (nee Schafer), loving father of Harper Lee Bisterfeldt and Owen Richard Bisterfeldt, and stepfather to Deacon John Schmidt. He was a dear brother to his loving twin sister, Dawn Renee Brooks, and a friend to her husband, Jason Brooks. He is also survived by his grandmother Donnalee Wilken and his mother, Joan Bisterfeldt (nee Wilken). He will be deeply missed by the Schafer Family.
Friends and family will gather for a memorial service for David that will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 Cermak Road, Forest Park, Illinois, 60130 on Friday, October 27th, 2023 beginning at 5:00 pm. The Celebration of Life service begins at 6:00 pm.
