(deceased in 2001), loving mother of Lee and Kathy Jo (John) Shufflebarger, dear
grandmother of John (Mallory) Benisek, Michelle (Colin) Blair, Brett Benisek, Heather
(Chad) Kirchen, Alexis (Jonathan) Van Vuren, Kasey (Chris) Bradshaw and eight great
grandchildren passed away from natural causes on Friday, November 13, 2020. She is
preceded in death by her beloved brother, Milton G. Tomayer, who was killed in action at
Guadalcanal on February 4, 1943.
Dorothea was born in Chicago on September 29, 1922 (parents were Josephine Pesata
and George Tomayer). She grew up in Berwyn andgraduated from Morton High School
in 1940. She married Leonard on April 24,1949. In 1955 they moved to La Grange
where she lived until her death. She was a wonderful homemaker while being a PTA
president, successful medical office manager and AVON Lady. Dorothea was an avid
swimmer, talented weaver, exceptional cook and loved her Chicago Cubs!
Dorothea lived her faith through service at the First Presbyterian Church of La Grange.
She relished her lifelong relationship and service with the Order of the Eastern Star.
She cherished her long relationship with cousins and friends constantly sending
handwritten cards to everyone she knew.
A private interment will be held with a celebrative Memorial at a later date.
