Genevieve Bangs Schwartz died peacefully in Oak Park, Illinois on October 12, 2015 at the age of ninety-one. Gen was born on a homesteaded farm in north-central Montana and became a surgical nurse at the University of Utah, where she met Ted Schwartz, MD. She and Ted were married in 1948, had six sons together and remained married for sixty years, until Ted’s death in 2008. Gen and Ted lived in Evanston, Illinois for most of those years. She had many and diverse friends and interests, and she became involved as a volunteer in various local and national causes. Gen is survived by her six sons (Dick, Steven, Michael, David, Jon and Tom), their wives, and seventeen grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be remembered by all as a loving, kind and delightful spirit.
