James L. Rooney, age 85, longtime resident of Riverside, formerly of Berwyn, passed away Dec. 11, 2015. Beloved husband of Florence, nee Kotal, Rooney; loving father of Matthew (Donna) Rooney and Michele (Brandon) Barker; proud grandfather of Kimberly and Matthew Rooney and Alec and Ross Porter. James was a past exalted ruler Cicero-Berwyn Elk Lodge #1510, a life member of Disabled American Veterans, Military order of the Purple Heart, a member of VFW Post 2378, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Berwyn Aerie No. 2125 & Retired Eagles Activity Club; Veterans for Unification, American Legion-Berwyn Post 422 and 710 Teamsters Retirees. Jim Volunteered at Hines VA Hospital with the Elk Representative Veterans Administration Voluntary Service Committee. Visitation Monday 3-9 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 W. Cermak Rd., Forest Park. Funeral Prayers Tuesday morning, 9:15 AM at the funeral home, going to St. Leonard Catholic Church, Berwyn, for 10 AM Funeral Mass.
