

A resident of Oak Park, Illinois for 60 years, Margaret loved her community and made many friends over the years. She loved golf, playing Mahjong, and 19th Century Women’s Club. In the last few years of her life she resided at Brookdale Retirement Center. She truly loved the facility and the people who worked there, and her fellow residents. All of her family will be forever grateful for all the comfort and care they provided.
Margaret was born, on March 17, 1941 to the late Eugene and Mary Margaret Antes in Hamilton, Ohio. Margaret was the devoted wife of the late Richard Bell. They loved traveling, good food, and living in Oak Park. Dick and Margaret attended St. Catherine St Lucy Catholic Church throughout their married life. She was the loving mother of Mae Bell Campbell. She was the proud mother-in law of Will Campbell., and she loved and cherished her grandchildren, Brianna, Jaden, Ellie, and Ari. Another important person in Margaret and Dick’s life was Sherille Cummings who was like a daughter to them.
Margaret was known to her family as “Peggy". She grew up in a robust household with ten siblings. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ronald and Eugene, and sister, Bernadette. Surviving are beloved sisters, Barbara, Anne, Christine, Therese, Janice, Dolores, and brother, Jack. She had many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Ohio.
In her early career she was a member of the Glenmary Missionaries and later she earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois Springfield. She worked as a Social Worker with the Cook County Juvenile Court, in International Adoptions, and the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Margaret's passions were life-long learning, reading books, her grandchildren, her family, and friends in Oak Park, and winning at Trivia and Bingo. She won a lot!
Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, Illinois 60130, on April 6, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Prayers will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, IL 60130, US, on April 7, 2026, from 9:30 am to 9:45 am.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Giles Catholic Church, 1045 Columbian Ave, Oak Park, IL, on April 7, 2026, beginning at 10:30 am; services conclude at church.
