Before moving to Oak Park, Il in 2017, he was a longtime resident of the West Side and spent 40 years in the Austin community. Morris was educated by nuns in the Catholic Schools of St. Landry Parish and in Chicago, was a parishioner of Resurrection Catholic, St. Martin de Porres Catholic, and St. Catherine of Siena - St. Lucy Catholic Churches.
Morris served in the Illinois National Guard, between WWII and the Korean War and worked for Rollins Picture Tubes where he received his management training. He then moved to Thompson Steel Company where he led as a Foreman for 28 years. Additionally, he worked part-time as a Security Guard for Kane Security Services and then Securitas after its acquisition for a total of 42 years.
Known for his work ethic that he passed onto his only daughter, Sarita (Smith) Connelly, after retiring from Thompson Steel, he found a second Part Time job and worked for the River Forest Police Dept as a crossing guard for a number of years. He retired from Securitas at the age of 86 to take care of his wife Beulah, who developed Alzheimer’s. Together almost 70 years at her passing, he was completely dedicated to her.
Morris is best remembered for his dedication to his wife Beulah and his daughter Sarita. Whatever the need he would make any sacrifice to provide for them both. He loved Chicago, weekends of watching sports, golf, rock, blues and R&B music, writing in his journals and eating great food at his favorite restaurants.
He is so missed and lovingly remembered by Daughter Sarita Connelly, (Kevin); and grandchildren Fiona and Aidan. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Leanna; Father George; Brother Melvin; and Wife, Beulah.
