Samuel R. Martinez

Samuel R. Martinez, 92, passed away peacefully on February 12th, 2024. He was a loving husband to Juanita for 69 years. Beloved father of the late Silvia, the late Samuel Jr., Hector Martinez, Myrthala (Rogelio) Espinosa, Ezequiel Martinez, Elizabeth Martinez, Beatrice L. (Mohammad Shahid Durrani) Martinez-Durrani, and Maryann (Roy, Sr.) Salas; cherished grandfather of Patricia (Arturo Yañez) Gutierrez, Jennifer A. (Jose H.) España, Rick (Jennifer Chu-Gutierrez) Gutierrez, Janira (Jose) Sanchez, Roger A. (Linda R.) Espinosa, Roy Salas, Jr., Julian (Lucia)Martinez, Melanie Salas, Muhammad Hamza Durrani; treasured great grandfather of Samira K. Favela, Sofia Yañez, Matthew Sanchez, Julian Martinez, Jr., Scarlett N. España, Mason C. Espinosa.

Samuel was as an ironworker for the Architectural and Ornamental Iron Workers Local 63 for 48 years. He enjoyed listening to Mexican music and watching baseball.

He will be best remembered for his giving heart, dedication to his family and humbleness and his hard work ethic.

Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Samuel that will be held on Sunday, February 18th, 2024, from 4pm to 8pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, Illinois. A morning visitation will be held on Monday, February 19th, 2024, from 9:30am to 10:30am followed by an Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, Illinois 60130.
