Obituary of Amy Sue Schwarze
Amy Schwarze was 49 years of age when she passed unexpectedly on Sunday, April 18, 2021, while at home. She was born as the Vietnam War ended to a veteran and the bride he met at Roger's Grocery. Amy grew up watching Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, and reading her Golden Books. She was a graduate of the Fort Wayne Community School system and was employed by Easter Seals ARC of Allen County. The joy and happiness she brought into the world is gone now, and the Earth is a dimmer place. Surviving are her mother, Kathleen Spridgeon Lansky (Marc); brother, Brandon; uncle and aunt, Scott and Lori Spridgeon; and their children, Olivia Sell (Landon), and Natalie Spridgeon; cousins, Linda Robinson, and her sisters are also praying for their cousin; extended family that Amy grew a strong bond with Joyce, who was the latter-day grandma taking Amy on outings into the community she came to relish. "A special 'Thank You' to the staff at Arc of Northeast Indiana, particularly Genet and Germa Husen gave us special comfort knowing they were always around. For Delia, Bonnie, and Geraldine we are also grateful, as they made sure Amy never went without. Brittney Prickett, and the agency's nurses. Our gratitude is also extended to Drs. Thomas Van Dendriessche and Charles Coats, Anthony Medical Associates, whose Hippocratic Oath bought us the later years of Amy's life. We are certainly appreciative of the help over the years offered by Sgt. Greg Stier and officers Keith Wallace, Brent Roddy and Dan Nigro. She was preceded in death by her father, David Schwarze; grandfathers, Arno Schwarze and Carroll Spridgeon; and grandmothers, Catherine Spridgeon and Hilda Ruck. "She believed He was the light and the resurrection because her grandmothers told her so." A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home (6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne), with calling two hours prior to service, beginning at 11:00am. Private Burial in Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Amy's honor may be directed to the Easter Seals Arc of Northeast Indiana Foundation, the Fort Wayne Police Athletic League (PAL) in honor of Chief Russell P. York, or the Indiana University School of Journalism Journal Gazette Scholarship fund in honor of S. Craig Klugman. Arrangements by Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home.
