ANTOINETTE M. BACKOFEN, 94, of Fort Wayne, died on Monday, March 19, 2012, at Lutheran Life Villages. Born June 23, 1917, in Rochester, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bruno. She was a sales supervisor at JC Penney, in Southtown Mall, retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Surviving are her sons, Charles W. (Mary) Backofen of Morgantown, Ind. and Thomas M. (Lynne) Backofen of Orland Park, Ill.; grandchildren, Marc (Tricia) Backofen of Indianapolis and Lora (Tim) Powers of Chicago, Ill.; and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald W., in 2008; one brother; and four sisters. Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 Fairfield Ave., with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Father Cyral Fernandes officiating.
