

Bernice K. Rodenbeck, 91, of Fort Wayne, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 16, 2016. Born on October 19, 1925, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Matilda Kramer; she was a graduate of North Side High School and Valparaiso University. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, where she was active in many aspects of the church, including St. Paul's Ladies Aid. She volunteered with Cross Connections and was an active member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. An avid gardener, she loved farm life, read devotions daily, participated in many Bible studies and invested her life and heart into her family. She was a loving and generous mother and grandmother, always putting others first. Her generosity and compassionate nature touched the lives of many in our community.
She is survived by her children, Madelyn (John) Tyson, of Asheville, North Carolina, David Rodenbeck, of Syracuse, Emily (Michael) Eschelbach, of Irvine, California, Eunice (Steven) Wert, of Fort Wayne, Linda (Kerry) Marshall, of Spencerville; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Phillip, Katherine, Elizabeth, David, Abigail, Susan, Daniel, Jack, Mark and Elise; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Penelope. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Martin F. Rodenbeck; daughter, Ellen Rodenbeck.
Funeral service will be 11am Wednesday, December 21, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1126 S. Barr Street, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, Tuesday, December 20, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Concordia Lutheran High School.
