After graduation from Leo High School, she began employment at Brotherhood Mutual Life Insurance Company. During her employment there she met her future husband, Richard Schantz. They were married May 21, 1955. She retired in 1959 to become a full-time homemaker. She and her husband were members of Brookside Church for many years.
Surviving are her son, Dr. Bradley (Jean) Schantz; daughter, Renee (David) Shirley; grandsons, Dr. Oliver (Caitlin) Schantz, Vincent (Emily) Schantz, and Nathan Shirley; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers, Foster Klopfenstein and Calvin Klopfenstein.
