

Catherine E Carmien, age 65, of Fort Wayne, Indiana went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. Catherine is survived by her siblings: Christopher N. (Ann) Carmien of Huntington, Indiana, Carolyn K. (Robert) Johnson of Huntington, Indiana, and Cameron S. (Laura) Carmien of Wabash, Indiana. She is also survived three nieces: Jennifer A. (Dave) Davis, Alyssa M. (Phill) Oprie, Rebecca R. (Brandon) Burnsworth, and her three Nephews: C. David (Ruthie) Carmien, Dr. Matthew S. (Betsy) Carmien, DDS, and Robert S. (Trey) (Colleen) Johnson, III. She adored and is also survived by her 14 great nieces and great nephews: Delaney Davis, Asher Davis, Eleanor Oprie, Beatrix Oprie, Alfie Oprie, Ira Oprie, Elias Burnworth, Jarren Burnworth, Jaxon Carmien, Cailynn Carmien, Chandler Carmien, Hadley Carmien, Harper Carmien, and Rory Johnston. She was preceded in death by her parents Barbara A. and Elson E. Carmien of Huntington, Indiana. Catherine was born on November 3, 1957 in Sturgis, Michigan. She graduated from Huntington North High School in 1976, and went on to attend Purdue University University where she graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. Later, she graduated with an Associate degree in in information systems at Purdue Fort Wayne in 1994 and a Master degree in Health Systems Administration at Indiana University Fort Wayne in 2003. She also completed a certificate of Anticoagulation Therapy Management from University of Southern Indiana in 2003 and a certificate in Pharmacy Based Immunization Delivery from the American Pharmacists Association in 2019. Our Lord blessed Catherine's life with many special people as she served God in her vocations in her profession, church, and in the community. She dedicated her pharmacy career to hospital and hospice work, providing medications and educating patients on their use. Upon retirement, she volunteered to work in the church's school library, to assist children in KIndergarten thru fifth grade to enjoy reading books. She also joined the church handbell choir and attended weekly bible study at church. Catherine loved dogs(especially her canines Saffron, Raven, and Penny). She was an avid Greenbay Packer football fan. She enjoyed cooking/baking, nature, gardening, music, art, travel, the Great Lakes, and swimming in Lake Michigan. Her summer retreats to the family cottage in Bay View Association in Michigan were the joy of her life. Her favorite place on earth was the shore of Little Traverse Bay where she could rest in the sun, watch the waves and sailboats, swim in the lake, search for Petoskey stones, read books, pray, and enjoy the majestic views of the ever-changing water and sky.
A visitation for Catherine will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Paul's Lutheran Church, 1126 Barr St, Fort Wayne, IN 46802. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1126 Barr Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46802. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory in Marion, Indiana.
