I am so sad to hear of Cathy's passing. I didn't find out till after the funeral. I had the pleasure of working with Cathy for one year when she taught 5th grade at Lincoln. She was right next door to my room, and we talked often.
But that wasn't the first time I met her. Years ago I taught an art class for education majors at I.P.F.W. and Cathy was one of my students.
It was an honor to work with her, and I really enjoyed getting to know her. My deepest condolences to you all.

I met Catherine last year during a parent/teacher meeting. We quickly realized that we both grew up in the same neighborhood. The conversation was cheerful with many memories shared. She was a fantastic teacher! My daughter adored her and spoke highly of her. We are so saddened and sorry for your loss. Catherine touched many lives including ours.

Dan & family.  I am so sorry to hear of Cathy's death.  I always enjoyed waiting on her at the bank & hear all about her family. She was so proud of her children.  After I left one bank & moved to another I was so happy to see her at the new bank. We hugged just like I was family. I did not realize she was ill as the last time I saw her was shopping at Meijer. We always had a lot to talk about. It was a blessing to know her. I will keep your family in my prayers.

I met Catherine just twice and only in the last two weeks as a volunteer at the hospice home, but she impressed me with her command of her situation and her mental acumen. It doesn't surprise me that she was a teacher - she demanded to know my name the first time I entered her room. I am very sorry to hear of her passing and for your loss.

She was a wonderful, compassionate person and someone you could always plan on for a fun time. Dear Dan and family,

I don't know if Cathy ever told you this story or not, but the first time I met Cathy was when I was a newly hired student at the IU-PU Library.  I was given the task of pulling out all of the cards for the overdue books.  However, I mistakenly ended up pulling out all of the cards that Cathy had just filed correctly!  I could tell that she was a bit frustrated with me, but instead she took me under her wings and taught me the right way to do things.  Even at that young age, Cathy already had the beginnings of a great teacher.  Cathy was always helping me and giving me good advice.  Some of my fondest memories are when I worked at the library with Cathy, Patty, Joyce, Pam, and Pam's sister, Sandy.  All of them, good, strong, and smart young women!  I also remember when you and Cathy first started to date.  She was so in love with you and I know her love for you remained strong.  I am so sorry that I will not be able to attend the funeral, but please know that Gary and I will keep you, your children, and grandchildren in our prayers.  Sandy (Scheumann) Quinlivan
