Charles "Charlie" Kiess

He was the devoted husband of the late Delite Kiess, with whom he shared a true love story built on faith, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they created a family rooted in love and strength.

Charles was a proud and loving father to Melinda (Glenn) Menefee, Andy (Sandy) Kiess, Coni Kiess, Adam (Michelle) Kiess, and Dorinda (Mike) Sollars. He found his greatest joy in family and delighted in his role as “Grandpa” to Christopher (Kierston) Mccomb, Chelsie (Mike Gabet) Hogle, Briley (Marcus) Reeder, Amber Minick, Anthony and Jonah Kiess, Betsy and Sara Brockman; and as “Great-Grandpa” to 11 beautiful children. Each one held a special place in his heart, and he loved nothing more than cheering them on in all of life’s moments.

Known simply as “Charlie” to his friends, he was admired for his kindness, quick wit, and the steady way he lived his life. His presence was a comfort, his laughter contagious, and his wisdom a gift freely shared with those lucky enough to know him.

Charlie served his country for six years in the U.S. Army in the reserves. He was also known as “Mr. Fix-It.” He always had a tool for every job, and there was truly nothing he couldn’t fix. Whether it was a broken appliance or a tricky project, his resourcefulness and determination shined through. Beyond his love of tinkering, Charlie absolutely loved both playing and watching golf. The game brought him joy, relaxation, and countless memories with friends. Not to mention a good Steelers or IU game.

Charlie lived a life rich in love, loyalty, and simple pleasures. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and integrity, as well as countless memories that will forever be treasured by family and friends.

Services to honor his life will be held on September 18, 2025, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Hockmeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with a time of sharing and stories at 7 pm.

Charlie now rests peacefully, reunited with his beloved Delite, the love of his life.
