

CHARLOTTE ECKENSBERGER McCAMMON HARRIS, 70, of Fort Wayne was united with the Lord after a long battle living with cancer at 12:48 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012. Her last days were spent at home surrounded by family and friends. "She had an infectious smile, and had the gift of connecting with people and a true compassion for others while touching and inspiring many people throughout her life. She was a loving, strong, and beautiful wife, mother, and grandma. She was known to many as Memaw Darling. She loved her family, Jesus, nature, her cat, sports (especially I.U. basketball), casinos and playing piano." She was born June 19, 1942 in Lawrenceport, Ind.. She was a retired Manager from First Land Title Company. She is survived by her husband, Stephen A.; daughters, Stephanie (Donald) Owens of Mexico, Ind. and Stacie McCammon of Fort Wayne; son, Shawn (Julie) McCammon of Fort Wayne; granchildren, Carrie Owens of Fort Wayne, Tiffany Owens of Indianapolis, Joel Heseman of Chicago, Jessica Heseman of Fort Wayne and Jazmyn McCammon of Greenville, S.C.; stepsons, Scott (Erin) Harris of Troy, Ohio and Gregg (Martha) Harris of Troy, Ohio; five stepgrandchildren; brothers, Keith (Carol) Eckensberger of Cameron Park, Calif. and Julian (Linda) Eckensberger of Plano, Texas; sisters, Gretchen Blackwell of Mitchell, Ind. and Lynnette Hamilton of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Edgar and Leona Eckensberger; and stepmother, Ula Eckensberger. Memorial service is 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., with calling two hours prior to service. Pastor Craig Duke officiating. Preferred memorials to Parkview Home Health & Hospice or Cancer Services of N.E. Indiana.
