Donalene Houtby-Werker

Donalene Houtby-Werker, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 20th, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Los Angeles, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Martha Cheek-Houtby. Donna loved watching sports, and crime shows. She loved traveling and going out on Wednesday nights with her friends from Target. Donna spent her spare time volunteering for Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, and teaching summer school. Donna graduated Grace College in 1965, and then went on to Indiana University for her masters, graduating in 1976. She had worked as an elementary school teacher for 28 years, at Wolf Lake Elementary School. She recently retired after 25 years from Target in Fort Wayne. She is survived by her son, Troy Eugene Werker, Fort Wayne, Brother, Jim Houtby, Hesperia CA, her dearest friend, and travel buddy, Donna Stinson , Fort Wayne, her grandchildren, Troy Michael Werker, Fort Wayne, Nikki McCoy and Caden Clifford both of Columbia City, her step daughter, Kris Werker Clifford, Columbia City, her Niece, Lanette Houtby Zubro, her Nephew, Jimmy Houtby, her Nephew, Eugene Houtby, and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her ex husband Rex Lemar Werker, of Fort Wayne. Funeral service will be 1pm, Saturday, December 29, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held on Friday, December 28, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Waterloo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
