Flora A. (Sammetinger) Schafenacker

Flora A. (Sammetinger) Schafenacker, age 94, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025. She was born in Ft. Wayne, IN on January 12, 1931, a daughter of the late Henry and Frieda Sammetinger.

Flora was a graduate of Concordia Elementary and High Schools. She met her husband, James, in the first grade. She trained to become a registered nurse at the Lutheran Hospital Nursing School.

In her spare time she enjoyed crafting, gardening, traveling and also had a love of dogs.

She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, James Schafenacker; children, Ann Schafenacker, June (Michael) Klinger, David (Wendy) Schafenacker; granddaughter, Robin Peshick; three step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Sammetinger; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 21, 2025 with visitation one hour prior at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1636 St. Mary's Ave, Ft. Wayne, IN 46808.

Visitation will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Ft. Wayne, IN 46835.

Burial will take place in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN.
